PURPOSE OF ROLE
The Head of Business Strategy position is a senior member of the Corporate Strategy department responsible for formulating company-wide corporate strategy under the direction of the Global Head of Corporate Strategy.
The position leads the formulation and implementation of company-wide strategies and the successful implementation of problem-solving measures, with the aim of achieving high global growth over the medium to long term, in line with Santen Pharmaceutical's basic philosophy and vision.
This role will:
- Formulate business portfolio strategies from a company-wide perspective.
- Identify issues for the implementation of the medium-term management plan
- Organize management issues from a company-wide perspective, drafting solutions and managing company-wide projects.
Principal Accountabilities
Strategic Planning
- Based on the basic philosophy and vision, formulate business strategies to realize Santen's global growth and lead the implementation of these strategies.
- Develop business portfolio strategies (organic/inorganic growth strategies, prioritization, and resource allocation) from a company-wide perspective during the new medium-term management plan period and from a medium- to long-term perspective.
- Support the formulation of strategies for each regional business and function based on the company-wide strategy.
Strategic Transformation
- Transform internal processes to enable global growth over the medium to long term through the formulation and implementation of global company-wide strategies and plans. Transform business processes by realizing timely decision-making, inter-departmental and inter-regional collaboration, consensus building, information sharing and the implementation of problem-solving measures.
- Create mechanisms for launching new businesses and generating results in the new medium-term management plan, etc.
Team Management
- Improvement of organizational and human resource development in areas such as issue analysis and communication, which contribute to strategic planning and KPI management to realize global growth, as well as creating a ripple effect of improving the organizational and human resource development of the Santen Group as a whole through cross-organizational collaboration.
- Fluent in Japanese and English language
- At least 10 years' experience in corporate strategy consulting or corporate planning.
- Experience in corporate and organizational change work
- Strategic and logical thinking, solution-oriented problem-solving skills
- High level of collaboration and communication skills with senior management and senior executives
- Strong understanding of the life sciences industry
