Job Purpose
The General Ledger (GL) Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accurate review and posting of all required financial transactions, monthly reconciliation of GL accounts to financial statements, and overall data accuracy. Additionally, the GL Accountant will participate in internal and external audits to ensure compliance and financial integrity and accountable for a proper documents archive.
Principal Accountabilities
General Ledger Accounting:
- Perform regular reconciliations of various GL accounts
- Process journal entries and other transactions as required
- Analyze open PO Reports and ensure adequate provisions are booked
- Analyse Opex and prepare accurate accountings and reports
Balance Sheet Reconciliations
- Ensure all balance sheet accounts and reconciliation as required
- Perform completion of the identified actions during the balance sheet review
- Ensure that all Goal Zero reports are provided in compliance to group deadline and requirements
- Ensure that all payments from customers are matched in the ERP with the corresponding invoices and unmatched cash are kept to the minimum level.
Fuel Card Interface
- Ensure a proper accounting of payments received from Customers
- Prepare a monthly aging report for all card customers and develop an adequate traffic lights for an accurate measure of the card credit performance
- Accountable for FANILO transactions verification and invoices
- Analyze fuel card reports to highlight any causes of violations flagged
Report Management
- Accountable that all general ledger document are properly archives in line with the company's archive management policy
External Audit
- Ensure that all required information is provided timely to the auditors
- Assist in the preparation and collection of documentation for internal and external audits
Finance Projects
- Perform other adhoc finance duties as assigned
Requirements
Requirements:
- Accounting/ Finance degree
- Minimum 3 years of relevant finance experience
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong attention to deadlines
- Ability to work under pressure
- Good interpersonal/communication skills
- Ability to understand quickly the big picture while paying attention to detail
