Gecko Robotics Energy Research Fellowship - Summer Graduate Intern

Pittsburgh, United States
Internship

Who We Are

The mission of Gecko Robotics is to protect today’s critical infrastructure, and give form to tomorrow’s: refineries, power plants, heavy manufacturing facilities, vessels, water storage, and many more. We accomplish this through our robotics platforms in tandem with our enterprise software solutions, creating a virtuous cycle of data acquisition, processing, analysis, and decision-making. Our robots operate in some of the most dangerous industrial environments, collecting data of unprecedented value and magnifying the contributions of human experts, while keeping them out of harm’s way. Gecko is uniquely poised to maximize both the production and the useful life of the assets we rely on to meet the world's energy needs.

Gecko Fellows will support the evangelism and Business Development and Forward Deployed Engineering teams in their understanding of the potential use cases for Gecko across new verticals, and how Gecko solutions could impact various industries. They will do targeted, deep research outside of Gecko, and unlock Gecko data in partnership with FDE’s, to help build thought leadership, use cases, white papers, policy positions, RFP/RFI responses, letters of support, and marketing content. You will be a part of a team of fellows focused on the following areas: Energy and Climate, Infrastructure, and Department of Defense.

Fellows will gain valuable exposure to the intersection of cutting-edge technology with industries that traditionally have been overlooked by Silicon Valley.

What You’ll Do

  • Dig into Gecko data to help tell the story of our impact on customers and infrastructure at large, extracting trends, surprising conclusions, etc.
  • Work with forward deployed engineers to create demos about potential Gecko use cases across various verticals.
  • Tell customer success stories.
  • Help expand the Gecko footprint by understanding how robots and software can be used across the world.
  • Understand and quantify the challenges in our industries and showcase how Gecko technology can solve them.
  • Research, draft and edit articles, white papers, policy positions, letters of support, op-eds, etc.
  • Possess knowledge of your space (energy, climate, defense or infrastructure) and how to conduct in-depth research within your field.
  • Monitor current events and Congressional activities for relevance to Gecko.
  • Prepare information products to educate internal and external audiences on Gecko wins, products, events, and programs.
  • Use your research to help form Gecko’s BD and marketing strategy.
  • Support the creation and execution of research materials that quantify Gecko’s impact on the environment.

Experience

  • Accepted to or pursuing a master’s degree in economics, environmental studies, public policy, energy, government relations, or a field related to Gecko.
  • Demonstrated interest in the fields of energy, climate, infrastructure, or defense.
  • Excellent research and communication skills.

Our Principles

  • Solve Real Problems: We search for the highest impact problems we can find, we spend a lot of time with our customers to understand their true nature, we come up with new ways, and we don’t quit until we’ve reached impact.
  • Growth: The problems we work on are hard. No one has yet solved them. We are constantly learning and trying - and that includes learning about ourselves. We are a group who loves to grow - even if it requires hard work to do so.

Requirements

  • Ability to extract meaningful insights from data (in Excel, code, or anywhere).
  • Ability to work effectively in teams of technical and non-technical individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to continuously learn, work independently, and make decisions with minimal supervision.
