We welcome applications from Generative Interactive Designers with a passion for prompt engineering and a strong understanding of how to leverage generative AI within systems. This role requires a problem solver, creative thinker, a willingness to experiment, and an ability to understand and interpret model behavior. An interest in narrative design and writing is highly beneficial. A background in game design would be beneficial, as you will be applying those principles to the crafting and development of novel AI-driven experiences.
Artificial Intelligence could be one of humanity’s most useful inventions. At Google DeepMind, we’re a team of scientists, engineers, machine learning experts and more, working together to advance the state of the art in artificial intelligence. We use our technologies for widespread public benefit and scientific discovery, and collaborate with others on critical challenges, ensuring safety and ethics are the highest priority.
The Worlds team utilises game engine, simulation and rendering technologies to accelerate foundational model capabilities and cutting edge agent research, working in close collaboration with Google DeepMind Researchers. We build simulations to support embodied agent research, and apply rendering expertise to generate high quality visual datasets and discover new experiences these models unlock. Team members come from a wide variety of backgrounds, including the games industry and beyond, and we leverage the team’s multi-disciplinary combination of artists, designers, engineers and QA specialists to advance the state of the art in many fields.
Projects we’ve worked on include AlphaGo, DM Lab, DQN on Atari, and multiple custom environments.
We are now exploring the potential of generative AI to create dynamic and responsive systems. Your understanding of game design principles, combined with an interest in AI, is invaluable as we develop unique and complex environments for these cutting-edge generative systems.
You’ll work with individuals in the Worlds team and Research to develop new AI environments and iterate on existing ones, with a focus on integrating generative AI. We prioritize thoughtful design and robust implementation to ensure the delivery of high quality, repeatable, research environments. You will engage in rapid prototyping and creative ideation, exploring the potential of prompt engineering and its application to generative AI models. You’ll join a diverse, close-knit team of talented and supportive individuals who openly share ideas with one another.
In order to set you up for success as a Designer at Google DeepMind, we look for the following skills and experience:
