ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Game Designer to bring their game design skills to our #1 mobile hit game Disney Emoji Blitz! On this project, you’ll have the opportunity to work with world class IPs from Disney, Pixar, and Lucasfilm!
In this role, the candidate will support the live operations content team, designing event content and prizes, define sales/merchandise and special releases, all of which is critical to the ongoing success of the game. Further, the candidate must have demonstrated experience in mobile free to play, have a deep understanding in game design theory, and be well versed with current mobile game top-performing mobile games and features.

**Qualified applicants will be expected to complete a Game Design test.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the live ops Design team and Product Managers to define content roadmaps for gameplay events and merchandising.
  • Creatively theme events to reflect key Disney, Pixar, and Lucasfilm releases such as new films, shows, seasonal themes, or other product releases.
  • Creatively solve concerns and feedback from IP stakeholders, while maintaining the vision of our product.
  • Define event, prize, and other content data to hit target tuning rates.
  • Implement content using proprietary tools and Unity.
  • Usher content from high level concepts, live releases, and OTA updates.
  • Playtest events to ensure content is built according to specs, tuning targets, and creative quality.
  • Learn the library of existing Emoji’s, past event conceits, and collection motivations to guide content planning for merchandising and event theming.
  • Learn the various Events systems in the game, to understand which pair best with which characters and IPs.
  • Coordinate with other development pods so new Emoji characters and features align with planned Event content.
  • Participate in various design brainstorms.
  • Provide well thought, actionable feedback to other designers.
  • Research trends, propose, and incorporate latest features and strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of game industry design experience.1+ year of work experience designing mobile free-to-play (F2P) puzzle games, with at least one shipped F2P title.
  • Experience with live operations process, timelines, content, and planning.
  • Experience working with Product Managers, and understanding how to balance a high-quality, fun player experience with business and KPI goals.
  • Experience analyzing data to inform game design decisions and tuning.
  • Experience writing detailed design specs and the ability to communicate your designs and vision to colleagues across different disciplines. 
  • Understanding player motivations, including those outside your personal gamer demographic.
  • No-ego personality.

  • Working knowledge of Unity.

  • Experience working with IP characters and following IP guidelines.
  • Management experience.
  • Agile and Scrum process experience.
  • Experience with Github’s workflow.
  • Serious passion for games—you are a gamer and have been for years.
  • Drive to build and support a creative, world-class design culture.
  • Takes accountability and ownership of projects from start to finish.
  • Problem solver, results-oriented, self-motivated and disciplined.
  • Able to multitask like a pro.
  • Ability to take direction and collaborate.
  • Coding/Prototyping experience is a plus!
  • Familiarity with IPs under the Disney umbrella, past and present.
