In 2020, Uken released Ava’s Manor, a solitaire game where users renovate and decorate the manor while discovering mysterious clues and dabbling in a romantic love story. Uken’s foray into narrative games is an exciting opportunity for the company.

Uken is looking for a talented Game Designer II - Economy who is keen on applying their skills to help grow the studio’s casual titles. We're looking for someone who loves games and is up to date on the latest mobile game and tech industry trends. The Game Designer II - Economy is part of the Product Team and reports to the Lead Game Designer. The mission of the Game Designer II - Economy is to design and balance the core game economy to maximize engagement and monetization.

As a Ukenite, you'll be working on meaningful things like: 

  • Designing and owning game economy systems and related features (progression, rewards, difficulty, currency sinks and sources, and more)
  • Creating economy simulators to model and predict the effects of changes to the game on player experience and monetization
  • Working closely alongside game designers and product managers to generate, prioritize, and test ideas for game economy changes, and new game systems that fit into and complement existing game structures

 

Your background should include:

  • At least 3 years experience as a Game Economy Designer
  • The ability to use knowledge of statistics, economics, and simulation to evaluate game economy design
  • Excellent knowledge of free to play game mechanics and economies
  • Working comfortably in spreadsheets (formulas, formatting, macros)
  • Understanding and acting on data to inform product decisions
  • Using clear and concise communication, to obtain buy-in on new ideas
  • An appetite to learn, grow, and take on increasingly more responsibility

 

It'd be a big plus if you have:

  • Balanced at least one core game economy or a few major systems in a free to play mobile game(s)
  • Deployed major economy changes on a live product with a large user base
  • Experience working with a lot of data, ability to write SQL, python 
  • A strong foundation in math, economics, or finance
  • Experience writing rigorous and detailed design documentation
