Fullstack .NET Software Engineer - Hybrid work in Lisbon

In a nutshell

Eurofins is actively implementing standardized processes across its various Laboratories, with a particular focus on its Information Systems (EurIS). Central to this effort is the indispensable regional web-based Customer Relationship Management application known as ADMS.

The primary goal of this position is to become an integral part of the ADMS Development Team based in Dublin, comprising five local members in addition to offshore team members. As a member of this team, you will play a crucial role in driving both technical advancements and functional enhancements.

The ADMS Development Team operates at the forefront of technology, leveraging robust modelling techniques such as Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Unified Modelling Language (UML), alongside cutting-edge tools and frameworks including C#, .NET, MS SQL Server, and Angular. We follow Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) integration patterns, with expertise in REST and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) implementations. Adhering to Agile / DevOps methodologies, Quality Assurance is paramount, supported by a rigorous test strategy encompassing Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD), while harnessing the power of Platform as a Service (PaaS) and DevOps technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Azure DevOps, and Octopus for efficient deployment and management of our solutions.

Work arrangement and location ?

There is a hybrid work arrangement with 3 days per week in the office (2 can be chosen as a team), and 2 days per week remote work. Our office is based in Alges area, in Lisbon.

How can you help us? 

Key Responsibilities

• Act as experienced Full-Stack Software Engineer, initially within a Scrum team of 7 developers and testers.
• Leverage good communication skills, team spirit and collaborative mindset.
• Contribute to the design, development, tests, build, automated deployment, documentation and troubleshooting of selected functionals and nun functional requirements for the target software applications and services.
• Ensure a high-quality level on development, writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices, team coding standards and guidelines.
• Conduct code reviews, participating to pair / mob programming sessions, debugging, and troubleshooting issues to ensure software quality, security, and performance.
• Implement and integrate a range of APIs, libraries, and services, including those developed internally and externally, as needed.
• Follow Scrum methodology, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, embracing its values as well as other Agile / Devops practices (eXtreme Programming, CI/CD, BDD)
• Demonstrate technical curiosity, keeping abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in software development.

Other Assignments

• Ensure follow-up to the Team Manager on a regular basis and as often as requested.
• Acquire rapidly a working knowledge of Eurofins EurIS systems, starting with ADMS, underlying concepts and models, as well as the processes and practices of the team.
• Deepen that knowledge on a continuous basis, guided by the most pressing needs of assigned functions.
• Develop appropriate working relationships with IT and non-IT target groups in Eurofins.

Are you our kind of extraordinary?

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least three years’ experience in roles such as Software Developer, Software Engineer, or comparable positions.
• Proficiency in backend development with C# programming language and .NET (Core or Framework).
• Experience with JavaScript / Typescript UI development ideally with an UI framework like Angular, React, or Vue.js.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles.
• Familiarity with relational database systems such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
• Knowledge of version control systems like Git and collaboration tools such as Azure Devops or JIRA.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to learning and self-improvement.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code.
• Familiarity with software testing frameworks, automated testing tools, and test first approach such Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD).
• Good Knowledge of Clean Code Principles and Refactoring Experience.
• Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments and using Agile project management tools like Scrum or Kanban.
• Capacity of Conceptual Modelling at relational database and/or domain levels. (UML)
• Experience with Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks (e.g. Entity Framework)
• First Experience with Angular Framework
• Basic Knowledge of HTML / CSS knowledge.
• Knowledge of any Shell Scripting Language, ideally PowerShell.
