About Outdoorsy
Since its inception in 2015, Outdoorsy Group has been at the forefront of outdoor travel, establishing itself as a leader in the industry. Our company is renowned for facilitating memorable experiences, as millions of guests rely on Outdoorsy to craft unforgettable family memories. Our partners depend on our innovative products and services to expand their businesses and generate significant revenue. Our diverse offerings include Outdoorsy.com, the premier marketplace for outdoor travel and hospitality; the Outdoorsy Destination Network, which features an array of campgrounds and glamping sites nestled in the heart of America's most scenic landscapes; and Roamly, our groundbreaking insurtech solution. Roamly not only supports Outdoorsy.com but also revolutionizes insurance platforms globally.
At Outdoorsy, we are driven by a profound commitment to reconnect people with nature and foster deeper interpersonal connections. 2023 marked a milestone for us as we achieved profitability, and we are currently experiencing a robust multi-year growth rate of 175%. This year, we have surpassed $3 billion in transactions. Our success story includes celebrating over 1 million trips and more than 8 million booked travel days as of June. Roamly's growth trajectory is equally impressive, boasting an annual increase of over 100% and accumulating over $54 million in written premiums on its platform. The recent launch of Roamly RAC™, our open API platform, is set to revolutionize the market. It offers a comprehensive digital insurance suite for marketplaces, enterprises, and dealerships in the RV and boating sectors, as well as insurance carriers looking to cater to consumer markets with advanced digital solutions.
About You
You are an experienced software engineer with a passion for technology and innovation and have built an extensive portfolio, especially within the context of travel and exploration. Throughout your career you have developed fluency in a variety of programming languages and paradigms. You’ve built MVC web apps, some data ETL pipelines and some application databases from scratch. You’ve also led the work on significant architectural changes; such as a major library upgrade or an investment in performance with material results for your users. You are obsessive about the details, but you are willing to work at different speeds; sometimes building methodically for the future, but at others developing quick prototypes so that we can learn quickly.
Your engineering expertise is complemented by an understanding of the dynamics of two-sided marketplaces in the travel industry. This insight, coupled with your experience in developing compelling features, positions you perfectly to improve user engagement and contribute to our growth. You have a track record of exceeding user expectations by delivering innovative and intuitive travel-focused digital products. Ideally this is not your first marketplace or travel company and you have knowledge of the unique challenges faced by others like Airbnb, Vrbo, and more.
At Outdoorsy, your work will span the entire stack. Whether it’s developing a new component for our Design System, or building a new geolocation Go API, your work will constantly have the potential to have a major impact for our users. At the same time, you’ll utilize your experience and curiosity to help develop solutions that impact how our organization operates internally. This could be a new way of instrumenting our search traffic or a prototype machine learning model.
