About the team

The Finance Engineering (FinEng) team is at the core of Stripe, empowering mission-critical financial domains including Finance & Strategy, Accounting, Finance Operations, Treasury, and Tax. We are the custodians of Stripe's financial data, powering financial data warehousing technologies and financial automation technologies to ensure accounting books are closed on time and to build globally compliant financial statements. Additionally, we build platforms and infrastructure to support financial planning and forecasting, estimate delinquency, and automate Tax, Treasury, and Finance operations.

What you’ll do

We’re looking for people with a strong background or interest in building successful products and systems; you’re comfortable in dealing with lots of moving pieces; you have exquisite attention to detail; and you’re comfortable learning new technologies and systems.

Responsibilities

• Scope, design, implement, and deploy robust solutions, making appropriate tradeoffs between reliability, throughput, latency, resiliency, engineering velocity and cost.
• Innovate, design and implement software solutions (ranging from frontend, to backend), that empower mission-critical financial domains including Finance & Strategy, Accounting, Finance Operations, Treasury, and Tax at scale.
• Uphold our high engineering standards and improve our codebase and processes
• Contribute to team strategy, roadmap, tooling, process, and culture

Who you are

Minimum requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience in engineering or related fields.
• Enjoy being a generalist working on both the frontend / backend technologies, and anything it takes to solve problems and delight users both internally and externally.
• Familiarity with databases (MongoDB preferred; AWS Aurora)
• Thrive in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts.
• Take pride in working on projects to successful completion involving a wide variety of technologies and systems.
• Ability to stitch together many different services and processes together even if you have not worked with them before.
• Ability to put yourself in the shoes of your users and be a steward of crafting great experiences.
• Enjoy working with a diverse group of people with different expertise.
• Ability to uphold best practices in engineering, security, and design.

Preferred qualifications

• Proficiency in Python, Java, Ruby and TypeScript.
