We’re looking for a Full Stack Engineer who cares deeply about their craft and wants to use their skills to bring about positive change in the world. The ideal candidate for this role is comfortable in the rapidly changing environment of a fast-growing startup and can adopt the leadership mindset necessary to cut through blockers and deliver projects that bring value to our users.

What you’ll do:

  • Design and implement scalable, reliable systems that are critical to BetterUp’s platform, ensuring they are flexible and adaptable for future growth.
  • Partner with product teams to align engineering solutions with business goals, optimizing for both innovation and stability.
  • Learn and grow by working with senior and staff engineers on complex projects. Add new tools, techniques, and skills to your arsenal. Stay at the forefront of the software engineering profession by pushing and being pushed by your peers on a world-class team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products in an agile environment, driving technical excellence across the team.
  • Apply customer empathy in technical decisions to ensure the best possible user experience.
  • Craft maintainable, secure, and high-quality code, setting the standard for best practices across the team.
  • Empower others by building systems and processes that enable data-driven decision-making, leaving behind documentation and resources that streamline onboarding and complex system comprehension.

If you have some or all of the following, please apply:

  • 3+ years of relevant technical experience, particularly startup experience and distributed team experience
  • Experience working collaboratively in a cross-functional team and with people at all levels in an organization
  • A high degree of initiative and ownership, combined with the ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt quickly to change
  • Comfortable in Agile product development processes (SCRUM, Kanban, Lean Startup, etc)
  • Alignment with BetterUp's mission of enabling self-driven behavior change
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, verbally and in writing
  • Experience building & supporting production-grade consumer applications with a modern web technology stack
  • A passion for continuous learning, customer empathy, and a desire to innovate within a fast-paced environment.

At BetterUp, we compensate our employees fairly for their work. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, residence location, as well as market indicators. The range below is representative of base salary only and does not include equity, sales bonus plans (when applicable) and benefits. This range may be modified in the future.

The base salary range for this role is $144,000 – $248,000.

If you live in New York, the base salary range for this role is: 
$166,000 – $248,000: New York City
$144,000 – $216,000: Albany, Buffalo, Rochester, Nassau, Newburgh, Syracuse
