About Us: 

As a Frontend Engineering Intern at the New York Times, you will have the opportunity to work on the most impactful surfaces of our products, from custom editing interfaces for our journalists to web and email products for millions of users around the world. You can also contribute to the development of new products beyond our core journalism, such as the NYT Games and NYT Cooking.

About Our Summer Internships: 

  • The duration is 10 weeks long, starting on June 2, 2025.
  • The rate of pay for this role is $40.00 per hour. 
  • Interns work 35 hours per week.
  • This is a hybrid role based in New York.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Join a cross-functional team that includes peers from design, product and often editors from the newsroom 
  • Work with current technologies including React, GraphQL and CSS Modules
  • Have a voice in the direction of our products 
  • You will work at scale to help deliver our journalism to millions of users around the world
  • Have the opportunity to work with all parts of the stack and contribute to broader architectural discussions within the organization 
  • You will be encouraged to participate in open-source projects and share your work at conferences and the Times Open blog 

Basic Qualifications:

  •  You have at least 6 months of educational or professional experience with front end engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

  • You have 6 months+ of professional experience working with current web technologies 
  • You have experience working in a highly collaborative environment with peers from different backgrounds and skill sets
  • You enjoy finding creative solutions to technical challenges and appreciate the balance between strong convictions and a pragmatic approach

The hourly rate of base pay for this role is:
$40$40 USD
