The Food Safety and Quality Manager for Manufacturing is responsible for all supporting food safety and quality assurance related internal audits in adherence with regulatory standards. The position supervises and supports the salaried Food Safety and Quality Associate Managers/Supervisors. Additionally, the position supports in developing, implementing, and managing food safety and quality control systems designed to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions
- Oversee the food safety quality system by coordinating cross functional departments and sites to achieve food safety and quality objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other managers to maximize compliance, product reliability and minimize costs
- Create and manage the HACCP processes.
- Create and manage the SQF program.
- Conducting a management review of the food safety & HACCP system.
- Ensure a high level of internal and external customer service. Supports investigating (and correct) internal issues and complaints relating to food safety and quality.
- Supports managing the department engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity.
- Performing internal audits.
- Develop, motivate, engage, coach, and inspire a team of FSQ Associate Managers and supervisors, creating a positive team dynamic that encourages all employees to provide feedback and drive change from within
- Maintain accurate documentation regarding GMPs, HACCP, Holds, Calibration and any other FSQA requirements.
- Coach and train FSQ Associate Manager/Supervisors to follow company procedures and processes.
- Evaluate team productivity and accomplishments.
- Supports and addresses nonconformities from previous internal and external audits, following up on and closing preventive and corrective action requests.
- Interact with vendors and procurement to ensure food safety/quality of all purchased parts.
- Supports in creating, documenting, and implementing inspection criteria and procedures.
- Drive KPI improvements through a structured approach for continuous improvement.
- Support design, development, and implementation of food safety and quality control training programs.
- Provide and oversee inspection activity for products throughout the production cycle.
- Initiates RCA investigations, execute the RCA reporting and following up on and closing pending preventive and corrective action requests.
- Supports ensuring that organizational systems and training is in place.
- Support administering document control and configuration management system.
- Assisting the management team and providing FSQ support as necessary.
- Provide all employees with the necessary tools, proper training, and corrective direction.
- Understand and enforce requirements of SQF Quality Code and ensure that all staff is aware of their responsibilities / accountability as it relates to the SQF Quality Code

Required Education and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Food Science, Biology, Management or other relevant subjects
- At least 5 years of work experience in quality assurance should be combined with a demonstrated track-record of accomplishments as an FSQA leader, and with satisfying customers in technology-driven, developing companies.
- Extensive knowledge of principles and applications of FSQA programs including GMP, HACCP, Sanitation, Continuous Improvement
- Experience leading a team of managers, coaching and training the team.
- Strong attention to detail and data driven mindset.
- Up-to-date knowledge on FDA and GFSI guidelines
- SQF practitioner and/or experience with SQF
- Food Safety Manager certification a plus
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
