We are looking for a Flight Test Instrumentation Manager to join our team. The goal of a Flight Test Instrumentation (FTI) Manager at Wisk is to support and continue to develop our world class FTI Team for the Development and Certification of the Gen6 Aircraft. You will be part of the Aircraft Integration team that delivers the Aircraft as a fully developed and certifiable product.

Due to the nature of the work required for this position, this is an onsite opportunity. You will be required to work from our Hollister office.

In this role you will lead our amazing FTI group, owning the whole scope of FTI and airborne equipment used for Flight Testing our Gen 6 aircraft. You will apply your direct experience of developing, implementing and maintaining flight test instrumentation, preferably to FAA Part 21 standards, to support safe and effective flight test planning, execution, and data analysis.  

What you will do:

  • You will lead the Flight Test Instrumentation (FTI) team at Wisk, accountable for all the scope of the team and its product to support the Gen 6 Program. 
  • You will support your team comprised of Mechanical & Electrical designers, Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians, and will develop, train and mentor them and establish mature processes and tools for the Gen6 program. You will set an example with regards to Wisk’s culture, especially from a safety and inclusion point of view. 
  • You will work very closely with the Flight Test team, to ensure the FTI solution meets their needs for safe and efficient flight test execution, plus ensure standard flight test equipment is designed, developed, procured and maintained, including but not limited to air data booms, data acquisition units, sensors, wiring, ballast, cameras, etc
  • You will work very closely with other Product IPTs (Structures, Propulsion, Avionics etc) to develop integrated and add-on FTI solutions for their hardware and system monitoring needs.
  • You will take part in all planning activities for your FTI scope, and drive successful execution within budget, headcount and schedule
  • You will be, and stay current on state of the art instrumentation technologies to optimize mass, cost, efficiency and reliability of the FTI solutions your team develop.  
  • You will ensure the instrumentation is compliant with FAA CFR 14 Part ​​21, and where needed any other Airworthiness Authorities. 

Requirements:

  • B.S. in engineering and 12 years experience, or M.S in engineering with 8 years experience, in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field. 
  • You have worked in Aircraft Development for most of your career, with direct experience of Flight Test Instrumentation or other complex airborne systems. 
  • You have hands-on experience leading teams in complex, high stress environments, focussing on safe and efficient flight testing. 
  • You have led teams who achieved the design, implementation and continued maintenance of complex airborne instrumentation systems. 
  • You are familiar with FAA regulations for instrumentation and equipment compliance and all relevant existing industry standards for Flight Test Instrumentation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, and ability to work across all levels of an organization
  • This role will require 25% travel.
