Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer (m/f/d)

Your mission during this flight:

You will be a member of our flight test team, planning and conducting both manned and unmanned flight test campaigns and continuing to build up the Flight Test Organization. Tests will usually be conducted locally but may involve campaigns at remote locations from time to time. You will work closely with our team to design, integrate and operate the Instrumentation System to help with the flight test campaign of our new aircraft.

  • Provide planning for the system design and installation in conformity with the company strategy.  

  • Conceptual and detailed design of the integration of various FTI components that combined will act together as a system.   

  • Ensure adherence to flight safety analysis and DOA design handbook – the design has a direct impact on the safety of flight (SOF). 

  • Build and test the system, both air and ground segment to ensure high reliability and greater dispatchability of the test vehicle.  

  • Lead the FTI flight operations as assigned, coordinating a team of FTITech on the field and operate the ground station ensuring data and comms to the crew. 

  • Supply chain management to ensure parts are provided in accordance with the flight test plan.  

  • Propose & implement instrumentation solutions for ground tests on test aircraft as off aircraft (radio receiving signals for voice and data, as well as the management of significant amount of software for data processing and pos-test data sharing) 

  • Design and agree with different engineering teams how to incorporate large and complex system in the flight test vehicle.  

  • Provide input to Project Management and Test Engineering Lead on project performance against established milestones 

Check in your professional skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master degree in Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or a comparable degree
  • 7+ years of experience as FTIE involved in aircraft development & certification process. 
  • Experience in contributing to building up a Flight Test Organization, structure working processes (design rules handbooks, installation instructions)
  • Very good understanding of electrical, electronics to mechanics and structures
  • Problem solving skills  
  • Business fluent in English. Other languages like German would be a plus
  • Extensive flexible mobility in order to support FTI operations on aircraft, being deployed with the test aircraft at multiple test locations

    Preferred skills:
  • Experience in Sensor/Wiring installation
  • Experience with CAD/Schematic drawings tools
  • Basic programming skills, like Python
