Meztal is seeking a Fixed Assets/Payroll Specialist with professional English proficiency to manage our fixed assets and payroll processes. This is a hybrid position based in Guadalajara, requiring the ability to work in our offices as needed. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and knowledgeable about accounting principles, payroll systems, and asset management.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate recording of acquisitions, disposals, and transfers.
- Reconcile the fixed asset sub-ledger to the general ledger on a monthly basis.
- Track the depreciation of assets according to company policy and accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS).
- Conduct periodic physical inventories of fixed assets and reconcile with records.
- Coordinate with departments for proper capitalization and disposal of assets.
- Prepare reports on fixed asset activities and provide analysis when needed.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist with property tax filings.
- Process payroll bi-weekly or monthly, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, taxes, and deductions.
- Enter and verify payroll data in the payroll system for timely submission.
- Address employee payroll queries and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain payroll records, ensuring compliance with relevant labor laws and regulations.
- Coordinate with HR to track employee benefits, bonuses, overtime, and time-off.
- Prepare and file payroll tax returns, including quarterly and annual reports.
- Assist with year-end payroll reconciliation and reporting.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls for both fixed asset and payroll processes.
- Assist in implementing and improving payroll and fixed asset systems.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards related to fixed assets.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in fixed assets accounting and payroll processing.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and tax regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Oracle, SAP) and payroll systems.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with ERP systems, specifically in managing fixed assets and payroll modules.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification is a plus.
Location:
- Hybrid role based in Guadalajara. Applicants must reside in Guadalajara or be willing to relocate and be available to work on-site when required.
