Meztal is seeking a Fixed Assets Accountant to oversee the management and reporting of the company's fixed assets. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting background, with knowledge of GAAP/IFRS standards, and experience managing physical inventories and asset capitalization.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate tracking of acquisitions, disposals, and transfers.
- Reconcile the fixed asset sub-ledger with the general ledger on a monthly basis.
- Monitor asset depreciation following company policy and accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS).
- Conduct periodic physical inventories and reconcile discrepancies with records.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate asset capitalization and disposal.
- Prepare detailed reports on fixed asset activities and provide analysis as needed.
- Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, including property tax filings.
- Assist in implementing and improving the company’s fixed asset management system.
- Monitor internal controls related to asset management processes.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations affecting fixed assets.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in fixed asset accounting.
- Strong understanding of GAAP/IFRS standards and tax regulations.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Oracle, SAP).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with ERP systems, particularly in managing fixed asset modules.
- Knowledge of property tax compliance.
