Fire Technician Level 3

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with the customer and determine the nature of the problem(s) with the fire alarm system.
  • Independently perform quality work and recommend improvements to ensure that customer satisfaction is met. 
  • Test and commission fire alarm systems to ensure that building occupancy can be taken.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, regulations and safety standards
  • Complete various reports and documents related to the work performed.   
  • Complete inspections of fire alarm systems as per Can/ULC S536.
  • Be able to read and understand engineered drawings/specs and programs
  • Complete verifications of fire alarm systems as per Can/ULC S537.
  • Complete emergency lightning inspections as per the local authority having jurisdiction.
  • Be able to work overtime when required
  • Be able to participate in the on-call rotation, being evenings and weekends
  • Other job duties as assigned by the Fire Supervisor and/or Operations Manager.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the electronics field or a related discipline, including at least 2-3 years of experience servicing fire alarm systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • A valid Canadian driver’s license with a clean record
  • C.F.A.A. certification in Alberta or equivalent is required. (An Alberta Journeyman’s Electrician certificate may be considered an equivalent).
  • EST 3 or EST 4 certification is preferred.
  • Previous experience maintaining electrical systems would be an asset.
  • Previous experience maintaining Edwards or equivalent fire alarm equipment would be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience programming and troubleshooting Edwards or equivalent fire alarm equipment would be considered an asset.
