The Finishing Business Unit Manager role at the Performance Tapes is passionate about improving the performance of our Finishing department to achieve excellence in safety, quality, service, cost and people. Development and execution of departmental strategies which align with key business objectives is critical to this role. This role will work cross-functionally within Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Procurement. Ability to work cross-functional, influence others and knowledge of the Materials Group businesses are key to the role.
In your role as Finishing Business Unit Manager, delivering on these responsibilities is critical to success:
Promote safety as the most important value in the organization. Provide leadership and direction to maintain a safe operation at all times.
Responsible for establishing, managing, and reporting department KPI’s focused on Safety, Quality, Service, Cost to key stakeholders across the business.
Ensure the Finishing business unit is constantly striving to meet customer needs and expectations through interactions and communications with the Performance Tapes business teams.
Provide the Finishing operation with performance measurement tools and expectations to meet critical operating goals.
Lead strategic planning and visioning processes for the long term improvement of the Finishing center.
Ensure continuous development of the Finishing operating system and front line supervisors through the 1:1 communications and the performance review process.
Drive employee engagement across all employees within the department.
Provide leadership for improvement. Promote and lead Enterprise Lean Sigma (ELS) activities to reduce variation and eliminate waste from products and processes.
Interact with sales, marketing and all internal functions to reach business sales and profit goals by providing a reliable supply of high quality products and services at the lowest possible costs.
Develop partnerships with customers and suppliers.
Promote collaboration between operations, engineering and resource groups.
Sponsor and lead key Finishing Unit improvement initiatives and projects. Provide direction for projects in quality, cost reductions, six sigma and EHS.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
Lean Six Sigma Certifications are a plus.
Experience:
5-10 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
2+ years experience leading non-exempt employees.
Demonstrated experience with project management focused on continuous improvement.
Experience with scheduling and supply chain methodologies is a plus.
Other:
Leadership experience and demonstrated ability to lead, coach and build relationships while effectively managing boundaries.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
Demonstrated ability to develop and grow individuals within the organization and prepare for higher level or more challenging roles.
Ability and willingness to adjust schedule to support multiple-shift operations.
Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
Dedication to a team-oriented organization
Results driven with a focus on continuous improvement. Organized and logical with ability to prioritize and sort complex problems moving to root cause and final resolution.
Knowledge of solvent Coating operations. and experience with continuous flow manufacturing preferred.
Lean Six Sigma experience preferred.
