ABOUT THE TEAM

 

The Operations department is in charge of running the bank. We take care of Trade Republic's business process management and ensure that operations run smoothly. The alignment of our processes with the company's strategic goals, designing and implementing scaling process architectures as well as establishing efficient process measurement systems are at the core of our mission.

Our scope covers a broad range of banking as well as business operations topics beginning from Market Operations and Securities Services to Payments Operations and AFC Operations.


Our Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) Operations Team plays a crucial role in safeguarding our organization against financial crimes, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and protecting the integrity of our financial system. You will oversee a team of skilled investigators and collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to proactively detect, investigate, and mitigate potential risks associated with money laundering, fraud, terrorist financing, and other illicit activities.

 


WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Build out our team of AFC investigators, and provide strategic direction, mentorship, and guidance to the team.
  • Set performance goals, conduct regular performance evaluations, and support professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Work with our Compliance Operations Group Lead to provide strategic planning on team growth, organizational structure, focus areas, and quarterly goals
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive investigation framework to identify and mitigate financial crime risks
  • Work with our Compliance team to develop technical specifications for tool enhancements or new tool build-out
  • Utilize data analytics tools and techniques to identify patterns, trends, and potential risks related to financial crime. Also to advance our processes and ways of working
  • Stay abreast of evolving regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and emerging financial crime threats
  • Support the Compliance AFC Lead and MLRO to further develop and improve overall control framework and safeguards
  • You will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders



WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 5+ years experience in financial crime investigations, preferably within the banking or fintech sector
  • Strong knowledge of anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorist financing (CTF), anti-financial crime (AFC) and fraud prevention frameworks, regulations, and best practices
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience in building, leadinging and developing a team of investigators
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data, identify patterns, and make sound judgments
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools and techniques to enhance investigations is a plus
  • Effective communicator with strong presentation and report-writing skills
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) are a plus
  • Fluent in English with working proficiency in German B1+
