As THA continues to expand its impact, we seek a highly skilled and experienced Controller who will play a crucial role in leading and strengthening our financial operations to ensure the on-going financial health, stability, and transparency of the organization.  Reporting to the Chief Financial & Administrative Officer, this position will oversee all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, cash management, and grants administration, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and driving efficiency and effectiveness to support the overall success and achievement of the organization’s mission. This is a full-time, exempt position. Remote work is allowed, but the incumbent must reside in the state of Texas and will occasionally be required to attend meetings and perform certain portions of its duties on-site at our administrative headquarters in Austin, Texas. Responsibilities-

Full Cycle Accounting:

• Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
• Facilitate prompt completion of comprehensive monthly close process.
• Identify process improvements and maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial systems and data.

Financial Reporting:

• Ensure accurate and timely financial statements and reporting in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit reporting standards.
• Deliver the information necessary for leaders to monitor their revenue and expenditure in relation to budgets and other goals.
• Provide insights and recommendations to improve effective decision-making and support organizational goals and mission.

Grant Administration:

• Manage the financial aspects of grants, including the preparation and submission of reports and billings.
• Guide organizational compliance with grant terms, regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with program managers to track and report on grant expenditures, ensuring alignment with funding guidelines.

Audit and Compliance:

• Mitigate risk by enforcing internal controls and maintain compliance with policy and process.
• Manage the annual audits and any fiscal reviews conducted by funding agencies.
• Prepare documentation and coordinate the submission of related regulatory filings.

Treasury:

• Monitor cash flows and develop cash forecasts.
• Evaluate and recommend banking relationships and services to enhance cash management efficiency.
• Assist with the administration of invested funds and reserves.

Leadership:

• Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
• Ensure staff prioritize professional development and remain informed of standards, regulations, or best practices applicable to their work.
• Collaborate on financial planning and analysis activities and financial strategy development.

Compensation-

Based on job duties and requirements, this position is placed in pay grade 49 with a full-time, annual salary range of $115,000 to $145,000 plus a performance incentive structure. The actual salary will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• CPA/CMA designation preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in financial leadership, preferably in a nonprofit healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting, and government grant administration.
• Experience with annual audits and fiscal reviews.
• Proven ability to develop and implement financial policies/procedures and internal controls based on industry standards and best practices.
• Strong leadership and team-building experience, with the ability to mentor and develop staff.
• Advanced Proficiency in ERP software and financial management and reporting tools (experience with Sage Intacct preferred).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
• Exceptional strategic problem-solving skills.
• Comfort in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.
