Tecovas is looking for an Financial Analyst who will be a key member of the Financial Planning & Analysis (“FP&A”) team by providing budgeting, reporting, and ad-hoc analysis to the Tecovas Finance function regarding hourly and salaried payroll. This includes data consolidation, reporting and analysis, research and communication of variances and key drivers, and consistent monitoring of intra-month trends. We are looking for someone who has a natural curiosity for problem solving, thinks critically and analytically to drive decision making and is passionate about growing the Tecovas Finance function with the utmost excellence. As the Financial Analyst, you will collaborate cross-functionally to provide valuable insights and support strategic decision making related to payroll management. This role will report to the FP&A Manager, with whom you will work directly on a day-to-day basis, but duties will span cross-functionally and certain projects will support other functions. 

This position is based out of Austin, TX but will have the ability to work from home and in-office.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and maintain data-driven monthly payroll allocations for Retail stores considering sales forecasts, unique staffing needs, and employee roster to ensure optimal labor coverage
  • Analyze store payroll data to identify variances between budgeted and actual labor costs, investigating and reporting on root causes of discrepancies
  • Forecast and track expenses related to employee compensation, including bonuses, taxes & benefits, and PTO payouts
  • Assist with the budgeting, forecasting and tracking of HQ and CX Personnel
  • Ensure we remain in-line with industry pay and equity benchmarking
  • Drive process improvements aimed at creating scalability and efficiencies across FP&A
  • Create ad-hoc analyses as needed; must be comfortable analyzing large amounts of data in Excel and summarizing findings in PowerPoint

Experience we’re looking for:

  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience, ideally in a financial operating role within a fast-growing retail or consumer products company
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling and forecasting techniques
  • Thorough finance & accounting knowledge; understanding of the financial statement as well as underlying drivers of account line item
  • Experience with a payroll management platform is a plus
