Domtar is seeking a Financial Analyst to join the Finance Department at the Domtar Marlboro Mill in Bennettsville, SC where approximately 680 tons of fine white paper and 320 tons of market pulp are produced daily.

 

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Perform steps to transfer entries for closing period within financial system.
  • Prepare detailed account analysis and reconcile sales, cost and inventory, liability accounts by manufacturing area.
  • Compile, analyze, and organize financial information.
  • Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
  • Assist with completing budget and financial analysis process.
  • Identify trends and developments – presenting findings to leadership team.
  • Develop, maintain and distribute ad-hoc reports as needed.
  • Create and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Participate in physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
  • Reconcile freight to sales.
  • Perform financial forecasting.
  • Review reconciliations of internal accounts.
  • Report on breakeven points by manufacturing area.
  • Report on margins by product and division.
  • Report on periodic variances and their causes, focusing in particular on spending variances
  • Analyze capital budgeting requests
  • Support and assist internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules and others
  • Perform other duties as requested.  

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited university.
  • Familiarity with US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, and basic SEC reporting guidelines.
  • Knowledgeable in all operational areas of accounting (cost, general, payables and billing).
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are required.
  • Ability to meet tight monthly closing and corporate reporting deadlines.
  • Previous experience with the budgeting process.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to solve problems and present solutions as well as meet deadlines (sense of urgency).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or MBA preferred but not required.
  • Five years’ experience in a manufacturing accounting environment.
  • Experience with SAP software.
  • Experience in a variety of financial analyses.
  • Team-oriented with both Divisional and Corporate staff.
  • Project oriented and capable of take on and manage special projects.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
