Our operations run in various Caribbean islands such as Martinique, Guadeloupe, St. Martin, Virgin Islands, and the Grenadines - all among the most popular boating hot spots in the world. Island by island we establish local bases, and work with local people & suppliers to create a modern, inclusive, and impact-driven international company.
Our team is mostly working remotely and with high independence and self-reliance with team members based in the Caribbean (especially Martinique) and in Germany, France, and Poland. We are looking for an open-minded, dynamic, and pragmatic Finance Operations Manager to join our diverse company, coordinate and support our international team, and ensure successful scale-up of our business.
About your role
In the position of our very first Finance Operations Manager, you will:
Work directly with the founding team
Be the main point of contact and generalist for everything around Finance, Accounting & Controlling,
Analyse, optimise, and automate our & other admin processes to work with high efficiency and accuracy
Prepare and send monthly/quarterly/annual reports (bank statements, invoices, etc.) and handle other related communication to our external tax advisors and accountants
Provide support for closing of monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements
Check invoices for accuracy and correct uploading by team members, in collaboration with local team assistants
Contribute to budget and controlling processes, drive budget accountability with other team leads
Control incoming customer payments and initiate the invoice dunning process
Stear invoice approval and budget request processes
Conduct analysis and provide performance insights across different areas of the business (e.g. top-selling products; compare branch performances) to the management team to drive business decisions
Support founding team in investor reporting, both with financial and qualitative data
Workload: 60 - 100% (availability at least 4 days per week)
Workplace: remote / hybrid, should be based & registered in Germany or France (incl. French Caribbean)
What you need to succeed
Very self-reliant and independent with high responsibility and ability to take project ownership and make decisions
Be accurate, detail-oriented, and reliable but with a ‘get-things-done’ attitude, aiming for high work efficiency
Comfortable working remotely or with a hybrid / traveling set-up and with a remote team from various cultural backgrounds
Be open-minded and curious to work with various legal and tax jurisdictions and regulations (French, German, other English / American Caribbean)
Completes studies in Finance, Accounting, or Controlling and/or prior work experience of at least 2 years in a finance role, ideally in a startup, venture capital, banking/consulting
Prior experience in a start-up environment with an international background is a strong plus
Solid or advanced analytical skills working in Excel / Google Sheets
Speak French and English fluently; German in addition would be a plus
