Finance Manager Full Time 

Based in Victoria, BC, we value work/life balance and are open to a hybrid of Remote and In-Person work arrangements. We’re on a quest to find a Finance Manager to manage the finance function, analytics, and financial reporting for a fast-growing, project-based hi-tech private organization.  

As our Finance Manager you will be reporting to the CEO responsible for managing and driving our Finance Function in collaboration with manufacturing, project management, engineering and purchasing.

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee and manage the finance function, including corporate and project financials 
  • Manage and develop the Finance team to support the delivery of financial results aligned to the business strategy 
  • Drive and enhance financial and accounting policies, systems, and procedures to maximize profitability and efficiency 
  • Run business models and ROI analysis 
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, due diligence, reporting and forecasting for projects, grants and government funding. 
  • Provide regular metrics and reports to current investors and fulfill reporting requirements.   
  • Lead the preparation of monthly financial statements & runway forecasts 
  • Manage and monitor cash flow, ensuring the company has the financial resources needed to meet its growth and operational needs 
  • Collaborate with internal teams including manufacturing, project management, engineering and purchasing to ensure alignment on budgets and forecasts 
  • Manage external financial and tax stakeholders  
  • Identify, recommend and implement process improvements to gain efficiencies  

Requirements

  • Canadian CPA designation required with a solid understanding of GAAP accounting, cash flow and revenue recognition 
  • 5+ years of experience working with a small-scale company 
  • Demonstrated project and budget management skills 
  • Experience with financial reporting for investors 
  • Knowledge of Impact and ESG reporting  
  • Experience with grant reporting including SR&ED 
  • Strong analytical skills (e.g. profitability analysis, KPIs, scenario analysis) combined with business acumen and ability to advise on strategy 
  • Experience in engineering and/or manufacturing sectors is required 
  • Ability to self-manage, manage change, ambiguity and prioritize tasks accordingly 
  • Ability to manage people and grow a team 
  • Expert-level Excel modelling skills (e.g. power pivot, array functions) 
  • Live in or in commuting distance to Victoria, BC

Target Salary Range

$90,000 - $110,000 CAD
