🏎 About the Categories and Expansion Team

The Categories and Expansion team at Whatnot is responsible for the expansion of our category suite and the continued growth of sellers and buyers on the platform. Partnerships is responsible for identifying, launching, and fully owning all sides of new high-potential product verticals.

💻 Role

  • Source and reach out to sellers to influence them to join and grow their business on Whatnot.
  • Travel to sellers’ stores to assist with selling, onboarding, and support efforts
  • Ingrain yourself in collector communities and become an expert on the Whatnot experience specific to each category you’ll be assigned to cover. 
  • Onboard and teach sellers how to use Whatnot to scale their businesses
  • Help small and medium-size businesses grow on Whatnot, provide support as well as hands-on assistance when they start selling on Whatnot.

  • You have a passion for our mission at Whatnot - you live and breathe the needs of our communities and work relentlessly to improve their experiences on Whatnot
  • You are collector of coins, comics, cards, you understand enthusiasts because you are one
  • You have up to 3 years of experience working in a fast-paced, client-facing role, and a track record of working quickly and iteratively
  • You have first-hand experience as a content creator/streamer, and/or are comfortable being on screen in a live-stream format. Bonus points if you’ve sold on Whatnot before!
  • You are scrappy and flexible enough to work in an ambiguous environment with limited guidance
  • You are available to work at least 30 hours per week for a 3 month period, with up to 75% of those hours being face-to-face selling to and supporting brick-and-mortar shop owners. 
  • You are located in either; New York City, Austin, Los Angeles

💰Compensation

For US-based applicants: This role is eligible for salary + sales commission.  Estimated on-target earnings (OTE) for a 3-month period range from $22,500 - $30,000 depending on if you opt for a 30-hour or 40-hour week contract. The OTE includes both a guaranteed salary and a variable sales commission component at a 80/20 split with uncapped commission earning potential. Actual compensation may vary depending on performance against the on-target sales quota.
