Field Associate Lab Optimization Consultant

Position Summary:
This is a field based role supporting the US, including Hawaii and Alaska, and Canada. Overnight travel is frequent and required with an anticipated 50-70% and can include 3-4 overnights a week at times. Candidates must be willing and able to travel when needed. 
The Lab Optimization Associate Consultant is primarily responsible for performing all Pre-Work associated with delivering Laboratory Optimization services (projects) to bioMérieux customers. As an Associate Consultant, you will learn the “delivery” of project tasks and functions. Delivery is primarily performed using the Kaizen format and Lean Six Sigma methodology in clinical laboratories. You will work with customers to extract data from various sources and get the customer ready for the Kaizen projects. You will work extensively with customers to understand their current process and collaborate and hand off the projects to the consultant team.  As an Associate Consultant, you will focus 80% of your time on the Pre-Work and 20% of collaborating/learning the Kaizen/Assessment projects. 
Primary Responsibilities: 
  • Responsible for gathering the required data, SOP’s, and other materials needed for the LO projects.
  • Effectively Collect data: Time and Motion, Cycle times, etc.
  • Analyze large data sets using Minitab and Excel. 
  • Schedule Laboratory Optimization Solutions and projects, participate on CIC and PM calls.
  • Understand and shape client requirements into Laboratory Optimization solutions.
  • Perform basic data analysis and support the needs of the team in the field and on projects.
  • Build and maintain the customer relationship to promote change, ensuring customer relationships are strengthened to achieve and/or exceed optimization in the workflow.
  • Build and develop a relationship with the Sales team to promote Lab Optimization services with instrument sales.
  • Learn the CRM process to manage pipeline, events, tasks, and all LO processes as directed.
  • Meet a minimum of time preparing & supporting the team to deliver projects and learning to lead projects.
  • All other duties as assigned. 
Education, Skills, & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field with 3+ years’ experience in clinical laboratory setting required.
    • Clinical Microbiology experience is highly preferred
    • 1 year Laboratory Management, Section Lead or Supervisor experience preferred.
    • Lean Six Sigma certification a plus. 
    • Laboratory Consulting experience a plus.
    • Experience in continuous improvement, process analysis, laboratory operations, data management and analysis, laboratory automation, systems integration and implementation preferred. 
    • WASP/Lab Automation experience is a plus
    • Previous training experience is a plus
