As a Fiber Design Program Manager, you lead a Fiber Design team working on complex, multi-disciplinary projects. You plan requirements with customers and usher projects through a project’s entire life cycle, producing high-quality engineering deliverables. This includes coordinating project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating goals to project stakeholders.  Adaptability and the ability to thrive in ambiguity are critical to success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of internal designers.
  • Proactively develop new initiatives for network design process improvements, working cross-functionally to prioritize tasks and make decisions.
  • Lead and influence teams and programs across various product areas.
  • Develop and manage the engineering design process flow to accelerate Fiber to Home (FTTH) design, including highly constructible job packages through final as-built completion.
  • Manage engineering team workload and production to achieve critical milestones.
  • Develop and define efficient routes using various types of construction. (i.e., aerial, microtrenching, boring, etc.).
  • Champion clear division of responsibilities with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain a high standard of quality control for design processes, including prompt troubleshooting and creative problem-solving for any equipment and/or design issues identified.
  • Manage the production of efficient designs for new development, network relocations and network upgrades.
  • Identify permitting requirements as needed with local municipalities, pole owners, and Right-of-Way (ROW) easements.
  • Provide effective and comprehensive support of network deployment and other cross-functional teams.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • 5 years of experience with FTTH infrastructure.
  • Experience in construction on new outside and inside plant (OSP/ISP/MDU/MXU) fiber infrastructure.
  • Experience leading and managing a team of professionals working with fiber.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent presentation skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage a project from various perspectives (i.e., business, product, and technical).
  • Knowledge of FTTH and Gigabit Passive Optical networks (GPON).
  • Ability to incorporate new developments in planning and design activities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with local city utility permitting.
  • Knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS), AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio drafting capabilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Fiber Optic network equipment, splice operations, configuration, and overall system design.

  • Salary commensurate with experience, expected annual range $150,000-$175,000
