Summary:
The position serves as a Federal Library Technician for the Collections Holding and Inventory Improvement Project (CHIIP), located at the Library of Congress. The position reports to the respective Assistant Project Manager(s) and performs duties for inventorying and distribution of the collections, including serials, monographs, and other various collections.
Work is primarily done in collections storage areas which are often at a lower temperature than a standard office environment. Work is physical in nature requiring frequent standing, walking, pushing, stooping, and stretching. Work requires ability to perform moderate lifting - up to 44 lbs.
This position will work a fixed work schedule (40 hours/week).
Duties:
You will review, verify, create update and process collections’ bibliographic (BREC), holdings (HREC) and item (IREC) records in the LC ILS or other designated databases. This includes assigning collection storage locations, ensuring basic data control, preserving, rehousing, and applying labels/stickers.
