We’re looking for a Farm Manager to join our team in Portugal.

 

Are you a dynamic and hands-on leader with a passion for sustainable farming and operational excellence? We are looking for a Farm Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of our orchard, ensuring productivity, quality, and efficiency while driving continuous improvement. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where you’ll play a key role in optimising agricultural operations, leading a dedicated team, and shaping the future of our farm.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing farm operations, including planning resources, supervising teams, and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Overseeing irrigation systems, temperature control, and field surveillance to ensure optimal growing conditions.
  • Leading farm maintenance activities, including repairs, waste management, and equipment upkeep.
  • Developing and implementing health & safety procedures, risk assessments, and employee training programs.
  • Building strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and sourcing high-quality materials.
  • Ensuring compliance with agricultural regulations, environmental policies, and industry best practices.
  • Driving innovation in farming techniques and implementing new strategies for improved efficiency.
  • Preparing reports on farm performance, productivity, and quality for senior management.
  • Leading and developing a motivated farm team, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Supporting sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement projects within the farm.

Requirements

Essential

  • Degree in Engineering, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant agricultural and environmental legislation.
  • Experience in managing farm operations, including irrigation, fertilisation, and waste management.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Proficiency in using farm management software and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Valid driving licence.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a farm management role within the fresh produce sector.
  • Experience working with automated irrigation and monitoring systems.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and precision agriculture techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
