Failure Analysis & Calibration QA Engineer

Full-Time

The Failure Analysis & Calibration QA Engineer is responsible for compliance with the calibration program for laboratory and process measurement instruments, poka yoke devices and MSA (R&R) studies. Ensures compliance with ALT (Accelerated Life Test) for NPI/NPD and s ORT (Ongoing Reliability Test). Collaborates with the support team for analysis of unsatisfactory tests in the laboratory. This role requires strong knowledge of Electronics and/or PCB, Failure Analysis execution, analysis and reporting.  

 

YOUR ROLE:

Activities may include, but are not limited to:

  1. In this position you play an integral part in the customer claims process and provide timely and accurate reporting of customer incidents to support on managing our customer relationships. (40%)

 

  • Acts as primary contact for all customer claims that require failure analysis. Responsible for streamlining the process flow for 2nd level failure analysis. Working along with Quality Assurance Engineers. 
  • Identify real root cause and implement mistake proof solutions to prevent repeat occurrences
  • Generates failure analysis reports for internal review and approval by  Customer Quality and Stakeholders
  • Control failure analysis/3D/8D reporting structure and language.
  • Collaboration with Sales, Product Management, New Product Development, Operations and Quality to determine root cause and corrective actions

 

  1. In this position you will also play an On-going Reliability Test for ensuring the performance followed product design status via operation sites and process.(30%)

  • Documentation and Report ORT procedure to ensure the same execution by sites.
  • Coordinating  to ORT test requirements put forth by higher end applications.
  • In depth study of current product reliability and deep diving into any failures for a better understanding of how failures occurred via the manufacturing process.

 

  1. This role requires to lead Averydennison Smartrac Operation site to build up and improve  Failure Analysis capability based on annual plan (30%)

  • Build up failure analysis capability within new site quality organization
  • Plan to continually improve site’s failure analysis capability and technician skill.
  • Closely work with industry expertise by establishing any new test method to improve QC-lab’s Analysis skill.
  • Plan and execute correlation and MSA with the site to insure the precise and accuracy of relevant testing activities.
  • Coordinates the laboratory technicians for compliance with the ORT program that considers THT, TCT, TC5 and S Bend tests.
  • Plans the MSA (R&R) study program and coordinates the laboratory and calibration technicians for compliance.
  • Ensures compliance with the poka yoke verification program in conjunction with the technicians under his/her charge.
  • Ensures that the laboratories that perform external calibration services have the regulatory requirements for this activity (Use of standards traceable to internationally recognized metrology organizations, current accreditations in the corresponding magnitude and work under ISO 17025)
  • Ensures the calibration technicians compliance with the equipment verification and calibration program (Gagetrak).
  • Responsible for attending 1st, 2nd and 3rd party audits of the required quality systems.

Qualifications

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor degree or above in Industrial Engineering, mechatronic or electronic engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality or engineering. 
  • Intermediate-advanced knowledge in laboratory testing (tension, force measurement). Experience in frequency testing is a plus.
  • Background in electronic failure mode analysis. 
  • Knowledge of CAPA tools, Process Capability and Measurement Systems.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, knowledge of machined parts and components, production operations and inspection techniques.
  • Must be familiar with standard Mechanical and Electronic inspection techniques and tools. 
  • 2 years of previous experience in laboratory and/or calibration area.
  • Knowledge in MSA (R&R) studies and their interpretation.
  • Understanding of ISO9001 Quality Management Systems. 
  • Experience in dealing with external suppliers (Calibration laboratories).
  • Knowledge in estimating uncertainty in measurement as well as metrological confirmation process.
  • Use of Gagetrak software is a plus.
  • 2 years of experience supervising and coordinating work teams (at technical level).
  • Effective communication techniques and ability to communicate with technical and non-technical personnel, including purchasing, production, engineering and quality staff members.
  • A self-starter and ability to work with local and  global organizations
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal) (Medium to Advanced level).
