Responsible for facility Chemical/Process/Mechanical systems design, selection, construction and ongoing operational engineering support. The facility Chemical/Process/Mechanical systems and equipment include but not limited to DI/RO Water Plants, DW/IW/DI/RO System pumps, Various Waste Water Treatment Plants, GN2/CO2 Generation Plants, LN2/LCO2 Storage Tanks, Various Chemical Storage and Bulk Delivery Systems, desiccant dryers, air handlers, make-up air units, exhaust fans, VAV boxes, HEPA filters, dehumidifiers, humidifiers, Acid and VOC fume scrubbers, heat exchangers, tanks, vacuum pumps, control systems, etc. Experience and working knowledge of Electrical Power, Process Piping, Bulk Gasses, Cryogenic Gasses, Specialty Gasses, DI Water, Acid Waste and Fire Protection.
Our facilities will require knowledge of design standards for Clean Rooms, Analytical Labs, Data Centers, Telecom Rooms, Offices, Mechanical Rooms, and Central Utility Plants.
Will be asked to take on Project Management responsibilities of projects during design phase and construction phase. Organize and lead project meetings. Needs to be able to develop detailed project scope of work and RFP, evaluate competitive bids and make recommendations for vendor selection.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Create new capital project ROM estimates, construction schedules, and funding justification presentations.
- Review new mechanical systems designs produced by MEP design firms under contract to WD.
- Assist with facility condition assessment of existing facility mechanical systems.
- Review existing mechanical system designs as required when troubleshooting issues which may require an engineering solution. Make suggestions on improvements.
- Review existing mechanical systems installations through field investigation when necessary.
- Assist with site systems capacity planning including projected growth in loads, required systems redundancy and end of life determination. Create and maintain equipment capacity, loading and redundancy spreadsheets.
- Evaluation of new systems or equipment using ROI, total cost of ownership, reliability, performance, and energy efficiency calculations along with schedule impacts.
- Able to multitask and to keep project data organized and up to date.
- Must be willing and able to apply and enforce WD procedures meant to maximize safety and eliminate potential environmental and health hazards while at the same time minimizing downtime impacts on our production operations, during the execution of projects. Review and approve construction task plans.
- Good communicator (verbal and written) who is able to maintain a friendly and open disposition while working with cross-functional groups such as Maintenance and Operations, Environmental Health and Safety and Manufacturing, and also when working with outside personnel such as Contractors, Vendors and Consultants.
REQUIRED:
- Education: B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 years of experience with high-tech electronics/semiconductor manufacturing or research facility, pharmaceutical bio-tech facility, or some other “high availability” and “high tech type of facility.
- Working Knowledge: Building Codes and Energy Codes.
