Internship Summary
Are you looking for an internship that provides real life experience?
Phoenix Contact’s IMC Events and Exhibits Team is looking for a Fabrication Intern to assist our in-house exhibit fabrication team on the prototyping, production, finishing, and assembling of demos and displays, typically for tradeshow use. This intern will also work on installation, dismantling, and shipping logistics for these and other displays. This position will use various skills and tools for woodworking, plastics, metal, electronics and lighting.
What does a typical day look like?
The internship requires the use of tools, woodworking, plastics, metal, electronics and lighting. Each day can feel different and has the opportunity to use a variety of skills. Alongside the actual fabrication 'hands-on work' is the maintenance of the machines and the facility. During the days, we have collaborative meetings, protype concepting meetings, hands-on fabrication tasks, installation and dismantling of tradeshow booths for walkthroughs and reviews, managing shipping (outbound and inbound), and inventory management. We also spend time as consultants to the team on materials, demo design, and creative concepting.
What makes this internship unique?
This internship has the unique opportunity to utilize, learn, and advance valuable skills in the prototyping, production, finishing, and assembling of demos and displays that showcase and use the company’s own products. The job requires a lot of communication, creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration. It's very exciting to exercise these skills while having the opportunity to take the products that are used throughout the world and design a display or demo that demonstrates these actual products in use.
