Our head office in Auckland is a modern, functional space overlooking the Viaduct, and just a 5 minute walk from Britomart’s central transport hub. We’ve also got access to co-working spaces across New Zealand and Australia, to cater to some of our team and clients in different regions.
The role
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing data solutions that drive our client’s business forward. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data is accessible, reliable, and ready for analysis. Your expertise in Snowflake, DBT, AWS, and Python will be essential in optimising our data infrastructure and enabling advanced data analytics.
The experience we’re looking for
- Proven commercial experience as a Senior Data Engineer, with a strong background in Snowflake, DBT, AWS, and Python
- In-depth understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and data modeling
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based data infrastructure, particularly AWS services such as S3, Redshift, and Lambda
- Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and optimising them for performance
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred
What you’ll be doing
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes using Snowflake and DBT
- Implement data warehousing solutions on AWS, ensuring optimal performance and reliability
- Develop, test, and maintain high-quality Python scripts for data processing and automation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver data solutions that meet business needs
- Optimise data models and query performance to enhance data accessibility and usability.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data engineering projects
- Mentor junior/ intermediate data engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of data engineering practices
