Experimental Cell Engineer

What you will be doing

This is an exciting time to join Breathe. You will be working on cutting-edge products that will be used by some of the world's most recognised brands in automotive and consumer electronics.

We are looking for a highly curious scientist with glovebox experience and knowledge of lithium ion cells who can both execute and improve our experimental procedures. Working at our state-of-the-art, 7,500+ square foot laboratory in London (the largest battery testing facility in the city), and collaborating with our product development team, to deliver and improve our technology.

This is a unique opportunity for someone to drive meaningful commercial outcomes for both Breathe and our customers as we look to accelerate the electrification of everything. We'll intentionally support opportunities for you to develop, be that courses, conferences, mentorship or something else.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in chemistry, engineering, or other relevant subject
  • At least two years hands-on experience in chemical and electrochemical experiments in a glovebox
  • Knowledge of cell chemistry and working mechanisms of lithium-ion batteries
  • Ability to implement chemistry safety procedures including CoSHH and risk assessments
  • Basic programming in Matlab is a plus but not essential
  • Experience with handling compressed gas is a plus but not essential
  • A team player with a proactive attitude and ability to work autonomously
  • Adaptability in an innovative and rapidly scaling environment
