Experienced Forensic DNA Analyst

  •  Full STR profiling of crime scene, reference, cold case and other DNA samples as required across a range of routine and specialist techniques and technologies in accordance with good lab practice (GLP) and quality systems;
  • Completing analysis of DNA profiles using GeneMapper IDX software;
  • End to end sample management, maintenance of chain of custody;
  • Responsible for maintaining a first time right approach to work, reporting any non-conformances or near misses to the local quality systems and implementing process improvements;
  • Proactive approach to Continuous Improvement (CI) within all aspects of the role; striving to improve output and efficiency of both scientific and support tasks;
  • Communicate effectively to team members and team leads to ensure a smooth flow of work through the laboratory process;
  • Work in accordance with Eurofins values of customer focus, competence and team spirit, quality and integrity.
  • General housekeeping: laboratory cleaning, maintenance of equipment and monitoring stock levels;
  • Qualification in technical/life sciences;
  • Experience of working in a high throughput, highly regulated forensic laboratory environment for a minimum of 3 years;
  • Experience of conducting DNA analysis, including extraction, quantification, PCR and CE in an ISO17025 accredited laboratory;
  • Knowledge of DNA profiling to include autosomal DNA testing (eg NGM SElect/GlobalFiler), Y-Chromosome testing, Mitochondrial DNA testing, Single Nucleotide Polymorphism’s (SNP’s) and future technologies including interpretation software packages;
  • Comprehensive understanding of the role of forensic services providers within the criminal justice system;
  • Understanding of Quality Control and Quality Management systems.
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • A proactive attitude and hands-on mentality;
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including ability to transfer knowledge to a wide audience.
  • Good knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • English (mandatory), Dutch (preferable)
