The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) brings together philanthropy including the IKEA Foundation, The Rockefeller Foundation and the Bezos Earth Fund, governments, technology, policy and development partners, and the private sector to tackle the twin challenges of energy access and transition in emerging and developing countries. By 2030, we aim to expand clean energy access to one billion people, enable 150 million new jobs and reduce 4 gigatons of future carbon emissions. We believe clean energy is development: without it, every other form of progress is undermined so we’re building a movement to unlock a new era of inclusive green economic growth that accelerates universal energy access while enabling the global community to meet critical climate goals during the next decade.

Who we areThe Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) is a collective movement addressing the defining challenge of our time: the transition to renewable energy in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Set up by the IKEA Foundation, The Rockefeller Foundation, and the Bezos Earth Fund, in the past two years, we have been joined by global institutions and dozens of partners united by a common belief that green energy access in the world’s emerging markets is fundamental to tackle the climate crisis and end inequality. By 2030, we aim to expand clean energy access to one billion people, enable 150 million new jobs, and reduce 4 gigatons of future carbon emissions. A future powered by renewable energy isn’t something distant and unreachable; it’s already here. For more information, check us out on LinkedIn visit us at energyalliance.org, and follow us on X at @EnergyAlliance. At GEAPP we are at the forefront of combating energy poverty and the climate crisis by championing green energy solutions. The challenge Our work is pivotal in addressing the existential threat posed by a potential 2-3° change in global climate—a change that disproportionately affects the world's developing and emerging economies. Our team is committed to significantly impacting regions where renewable energy is not only the most economical choice but also a critical step towards sustainable development. Work with Us At GEAPP, we are change-makers with a collaborative mindset who drive impact to meet the current threat of climate change and the need for clean energy access and transition. GEAPP’s ambition is unprecedented, and our model is unique against a short timetable. As we evolve from the start-up space and move to create meaningful change, we need innovators who are motivated by our mission and focused on our goals. Our global team currently sits across 14 countries, working together daily across 12 time zones toward our collective impact. In our first two years, we have expanded energy access to 1.2m people, created over 600,000 new jobs, and averted 147 MT of CO2e emissions. But we have barely scratched the surface, and with the threat of climate change here and accelerating, we are looking to bring more dedicated team members ready to create action.
