Role Overview
Reporting to the Pre-Construction Manager, the role of the Estimator is to develop robust pre contract elemental cost plans then, following financial close, liaise with the commercial teams to ensure commercial opportunities in the scheme are maximised and lessons learned are fed back into the design and estimating function of the business.

Key Responsibilities
The overall performance of the Estimating Process
- Assess tender/bid documentation and requirements and report findings to team
- Develop tender strategy and continuously monitor
- Ensure all supplementary information is in place
- Seek to constantly improve the quality and accuracy of the estimating function
- Work closely with the internal bid team and their advisors to ensure accurate commercial feedback is provided at regular intervals during the bid process
The implementation of hardware/infrastructure and Systems
- Full working knowledge of an appropriate Estimating Software System and ensure upgrades are understood and implemented
- Awareness of current Health & Safety requirements and changes
- Ensure Risk Register is applied and monitored
The development/support of Colleagues (+ oneself) within the team
- Influence and support team members to innovate and achieve optimum solutions
- Effectively communicate bid strategy and proposed solutions to Construction Team
- Obtain feedback from Construction Team and utilize in improving the process
- Seek opportunities to learn about changes and innovations in the industry
- Ensure own skill base is developed
- The development of Client/Supplier relationships

Requirements

Essential:
- Hold a full driving licence, valid in the UK.
- Previous experience within a competitive and successful estimating/surveying/commercial team or department.
- Previous knowledge and experience in ConQuest for estimating
- A positive and professional attitude.
- Ability to work using own initiative but also as part of a close knit team.
- Excellent levels of computer literacy, and be fluent in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Have a proactive attitude towards delivering construction works to a world-class standard.
- Hold excellent communications skills and the ability to liaise with senior clients & subcontractors.
- Possess good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a variety of tasks.
- Possess a positive approach to learning, development, and progression.
- Have a flexible outlook towards hours worked (some out of hours working may be required).
- Have working knowledge of current Health and Safety practice.
Desirable:
- Previous knowledge working with public sector clients
- Previous knowledge working in the health and education sectors
- Previous experience and/or training on BIM (Business Information Modelling)
