Overview of Job

EssenceMediacom is an agency of GroupM, the world's largest media investment company and we are a part of WPP. In fact, we are responsible for one in every three ads you see globally. We are currently looking for a Digital Strategist to join us and spearhead the growth for our clients with unique perspectives.

About the role 
In this role, you will be responsible for strategize and ideate for our clients, which cover a wide range of categories from finance, luxury brands to FMCGs. Your role will be focused on moving the discipline forward into a new era of data-led insights and business solutions, with all of the usual strategy planning responsibilities: writing stories combining consumer insights and market intelligence with help of data analytics modeling, creating robust comms strategies and tactics, and working with our internal teams to present the best and most interesting ideas. You will also play a key role to nourish a creative culture by creating award winning cases, conducting workshops or other out-of-the-box initiatives you can think of.
 Reporting of the role
This role has a duel report line to Asso. Strategy Director and Asso. Digital Director, with support to local account leads.

In this role, your goals will be:
In three months:
 
  • Understand our tools, core competency and planning philosophy
  • Become fully up-to-speed in the market media landscapes that are most critical to the clients business in general, and competitor media landscape specifically.
  • Work with different teams and clients to understand their challenges, notably on digital transformation
 
In six months: 
  • Establish the practice and lead change for both the agency and client through thought leadership
  • Lead the strategic development and digital innovation of key campaigns and pitches
  • Develop best digital practices with data-led planning mindset 
  • Establish initiatives that drive the creative development of EssenceMediacom 
  • Develop award winning showcases
In 12 months: 
  • Become an indispensable consultant to business team leads and clients, through insight-led digital innovations  
  • Driving thought-leadership for EssenceMediacom and help to shape the direction for our future development
  • Actively identify organic growth opportunities for EssenceMediacom across our clientele

Key responsibilities at
EssenceMediacom: 
  • Provide key strategic inputs such as:
    • Identify key audiences - sizing and profile using data points, to determine whether given audience can achieve the client’s business objective
    • Within the aligned audience(s), identify key human truth (insight) that leads to a communication platform (one-liner) that demonstrates what a brand should be saying and how it should be behaving in media to drive the change in perception/ behavior (from/ to)
    • Ideate how to activate strategy through media and digital innovation  
    • Set budget allocation - topline between online/ offline & key channels identified for each in order to hit the objectives 
  • Be the guardian of consumer journeys focusing on not just performance, but also for building emotional connection with our audience through media
  • Ability to identify client’s challenges and provide smart solutions
  • A great collaborator - work with, just to name a few: Analytics, Client Service, Planning
  • Be the in-agency/ external expert of luxury category and consumer trends (especially media related but not limited to), and apply that knowledge to strategy
  • Be a great story-teller and make media more “idea” and “insight” driven in addition to data-driven
  • Understand clients’ digital workflow and streamline it through application of tools and protocals 
  • Work with different teams to create award winning show cases and assist in submission related procedures
  • Launch initiatives that cultivate a creative and digital-led atmosphere
 
 
What you’ll bring:
  • Developing a consumer-centric view in all strategic thinking
  • Developing and maintaining an intimate knowledge of their clients’ business
  • Providing point-of-view on various channels in the marketplace, notably digital  
  • Leading in brainstorming sessions
  • Assist in creating media recommendations and alternatives
  • Investigating creative, innovative ideas to strategically reach the target consumer
  • Deduce competitive activity to identify business opportunities
  • Adapting and implementing Strategy/ Planning tool by collaborating with the global and regional counterparts 
Minimum qualifications: 
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience (marketing, media planning & buying, strategy, research, insight). Candidates with media / creative / digital executional experiences are preferred.  
  • Observant to people (consumers)’s life, understand different people’s satisfaction and tension
  • A strong appetite to learn  
  • A can-do attitude, always creative and never be shy to speak your thoughts in front of senior stakeholders
  • Proficient in creative writing
  • Agility to work with people with different expertise and backgrounds
  • Familiar with various research methodology, ability to drive market and audience research tools, feed insights into the planning process
  • Understanding of media planning and execution procedure with solid digital knowledge
  • Sensitive to numbers and an interest in data science (but technical skills are not required)
