Purpose of the role
The Associate Business Director effectively manages the requirements of a set portfolio of assigned clients, including briefing, workflow, quality, and budget control ensuring that the client is continually delighted with our work.
 
The ABD ensures that all recommendations and campaign executions deliver growth to our clients’ businesses. To do this, they will deepen EssenceMediacom’s relationship with its clients, have a thorough understanding of the breadth and depth of EssenceMediacom’s product offering, and effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to constantly bring effective and innovative solutions to our clients.
 
The ABD will care as much about execution as strategy, leading the team process to ensure the strategy is executed and delivered wholeheartedly. They will be our client confidantes, building deep relationships and identifying ways to grow our client’s business with EssenceMediacom.
 
Your responsibilities  
  •  Organises self and team to deliver client work that consistently meets or exceeds the clients and EssenceMediacom’s expectations in line with agency processes.
  • Ensures all individuals know their roles, responsibilities and deadlines when responding to a client brief prior to work commencing. 
  • Drives the delivery of high-performance servicing to clients, ensuring they feel well-resourced and receiving value in return for their agency investment.
  • Builds deep and influential client relationships, facilitating a highly valued EssenceMediacom relationship.
  • Provides clients with a well-informed POV at all times (across category, media and marketing etc)
  • Develops strong and influential relationships with counterparts (and other relevant people) at partner agencies.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of the EssenceMediacom planning philosophy and process framework, and follows it as relevant to deliver the required client output
  • Leads account briefs, delegating responsibilities where necessary, but ultimately owning the delivery of work.
  • Cares as much about execution as strategy. Leads the team process to ensure the strategy is executed and delivered wholeheartedly. This includes ensuring the implementation team translates strategy to execution seamlessly.
  • Supports the GBD/ABD in the development and delivery of annual strategic account plans for clients, supporting in areas of progression in work quality, process, collaboration, and commercial return
  • Ensures quality and timely work output across the set client portfolio, to specifically meet clients’ business requirements as relevant
  • Drives the delivery of contractual KPIs to ensure they are met (where applicable)
  • Pulls in the right specialists at the right time to deliver excellent work
  • Manages and updates accurate revenue forecasts throughout the year – sharing relevant information GBD/BD in monthly revenue forecast meetings
  • Supports the BD and starts to own driving incremental and organic opportunities for EssenceMediacom across the client portfolio (based on client business needs).
  • Supports BD to ensure remunerated KPIs are met to contract (where applicable) for clients
  • Responsible for ensuring that clients pay all outstanding debts in accordance with agreed payment terms, assisting in resolving any specific disputes that arise
  • Contributes to new business projects as required
 Qualifications and experience  
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent
  • 7+ years’ media agency experience
  • Strong knowledge of the NZ media market, and a healthy interest in major Global markets
  • Strong client leadership experience
  • Strong people management experience
  • Significant knowledge of the digital environment and the changing communications landscape
  • Developing commercial acumen, with some experience of managing the fiscal aspect of client relationships
