Equipment Engineering Internship/Co-Op

You will support the growing needs of Zoox’s newest assembly lines by supporting the planning of equipment and maintenance tasks as it relates to new product launches and current and upcoming assembly lines.

Responsibilities

  • Work fluidly in a highly cross-functional team environment involving manufacturing and product development teams, as well as supply chain specialists, manufacturing engineers, and vehicle and maintenance technicians.
  • Support Lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives.
  • Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop processes, tooling, assembly fixtures and procedures.
  • Organize and track data sets associated with maintenance downtime events.
  • Develop and validate processes and jigs/fixtures that will be used during assembly
  • Develop and implement Zoox’s General Assembly deenergization standards, placarding, and Lock-out Tag-out process
  • Support issue resolution for production and assembly including root cause investigation and corrective action tracking
  • Able to read, modify, and create basic mechanical drawings and electrical schematics

Qualifications

  • Currently working towards a Bachelor's, Master's, or an advanced degree in a relevant engineering program
  • You must be self-managed and committed to working in a fast-paced environment
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical engineering proven through academic projects, passion projects, or equivalent (automotive, maker, and sustainability interests are a plus)
  • Professional and positive communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of 3D printing and hand tools
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, Solidworks, and or Catia

Compensation
The monthly salary range for this position is $6,500 to $9,500. Compensation will vary based on role, degree level and type, and benefits will be offered based on eligibility. Additional benefits may include medical insurance, 401k, and a housing stipend.
