Environmental Sustainability Specialist

Position Overview: The Sustainability Specialist will play a crucial role in advancing our sustainability initiatives, promoting environmental stewardship, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This is a highly collaborative position, working with most internal groups on a global basis, and interfacing externally with suppliers and customers when needed.
Key Responsibilities: 
  1. Sustainability Strategy Development: 
    • Assist in developing and implementing sustainability strategies aligned with organizational goals.
    • Conduct research on developing regulations, industry trends, best practices, and innovative sustainability solutions.
  2. Project Management: 
    • Work in conjunction with Functional Leaders (and their teams) to lead and manage sustainability projects from conception to execution, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and resource conservation.
    • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and performance metrics.
  3. Data Analysis and Reporting: 
    • Analyze sustainability data and generate reports to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
    • Become familiar and proficient with internal systems and programs to collect necessary system or product information.
    • Prepare presentations and communicate findings to stakeholders.
  4. Stakeholder Engagement: 
    • Collaborate with internal departments to foster a culture of sustainability.
    • Engage with external partners, including suppliers, community organizations, and regulatory bodies.
  5. Training and Education: 
    • Working with Functional Leaders and the Learning and Development team, develop and deliver training programs for employees to promote sustainable practices.
    • Create educational materials and resources to raise awareness of sustainability initiatives.
  6. Compliance and Risk Management: 
    • Ensure compliance with a broad collection of sustainability related regulations and standards.
    • Assess potential risks associated with sustainability practices and recommend mitigation strategies.
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-3 years of experience
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Passion for environmental issues and a commitment to sustainability.
Preferred Skills: 
  • Familiarity with sustainability regulations and frameworks (CSRD, CBAM, LEED, ISO 14001, CDP, ECOVADIS, etc.).
  • Experience in community engagement and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software and sustainability reporting tools.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and changing environment.
