The EH&S Sr. Manager manages the Medical, Employee safety and Environmental impact functions at all sites in Mexicali. Prepares and executes budget for this function.
Under general supervision develops process, procedures, and goals to assure employee safety and promotes health among all associates in all plants in the Mexicali site in adherence with local, international and company regulations and laws. Maintains close alignment with corporate EH&S and leaders and assures implementation of corporate guidelines.
Manage the emergency response plan and environment impact emergencies, proving leadership and plans for the site. Promotes awareness of risks and maintains a safety culture in the organization.
Essential Job Duties
- Participate in determining the Safety strategy, policies/practices, training compliance processes.
- Administer Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs and compliance including Illness and Injury Prevention Program, Accident Investigations, Hazard Communication, Hazardous Waste Management, Emergency Action Plan and Ergonomics programs.
- Act as liaison and prepare liaison team to interact with agencies such as Public Safety Department, and Medical and Management authority.
- Drive and support efforts of company safety committee.
- Handler safety compliance calendar with submittals for permit applications and fees, regulatory reports (e.g., HMBP/HMIS, Hazardous Waste Manifests and verification).
- Manage Safety related vendor contracts and budget (e.g. hazardous medical waste management, safety equipment providers and consultants).
- Provide Safety consultative services to the entire organization
- Provide risk assessments to managers and leaders of business operations
- Support all departments with safety training, ergonomics and hazard analyses.
- Develop and maintain written safety programs, implement and training needed to meet all legal/government requirements alignment with company needs.
- Conduct regular safety checks of all areas and make recommendations for improvements.
- Support Facilities organization in new construction, retrofit projects. Also provide contractor safety consulting support of Facilities personnel.
- Support logistics personnel with DOT/IATA, powered industrial trunk lifting and ergonomics programs and training.
- Responsible for performing the logs checking equipment for emergencies.
- Responsible for verifying that it is maintained to the company extinguishers.
- Responsible for overseeing contractors and verify compliance with aspects of security the work they perform.
- Responsible for checking the safety aspects and make a report when work is carried out with heat (using oxyacetylene welding, etc.)
- Oversees and monitors the "dangerous activities" carried out on the ground.
- Part of the CSH and emergency response brigade.
- It carried out work orders of the safety area, according to the Preventive Maintenance Program.
- Transfer personnel to Hospital if is necessary.
- Perform drug testing personnel at the request of medical and production.
- Orientation training support for new employees.

Required Skills and Experience
- Safety (EHS) discipline and a minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in industrial maintenance, environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or Safety Management.
- Basic knowledge and experience in building construction.
- Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal construction regulations.
- Working knowledge of local, state, and federal EHS laws and other government compliance regulations.
- Knowledge and experience in collecting, managing, and analyzing data and trends in environmental, health and safety behavior and compliance.
- Abilities to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with state practices, policies, procedures, or government law.
- Effective written and oral communication skills within a culturally diverse environment.
- Excellent software skills, MS Office Suite a must.
- Personal leadership: pro-active in achieving the shared purpose with the client group by sharing ideas and process improvements.
- Agility: ability to prioritize and smoothly manage multiple tasks.

- English Level 80% (English & Spanish Fluent)
- Experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment, preferred.
- Bachelor Degree is a must.
