Menyala is a venture builder founded by Temasek, a global investment firm headquartered in Singapore. We empower builders to drive technological shifts.

What is the role?

We are seeking an Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) with a solid background in:

  • AI Expertise: Deep understanding of AI models, NLP, and machine learning with experience at AI-focused companies.
  • Content Partnerships: Proven track record in strategic partnerships and licensing negotiations in the content industry.
  • Licensing/Monetization Specialist: Expertise in copyright law and digital content monetization with experience in licensing agencies.

AI has a growing demand for paywalled content, creating friction between AI developers and content creators. The current state lacks legal frameworks and monetization strategies for AI content usage. The market for AI data access is large and growing, with a projected CAGR of 36.6%. Emerging solutions and competitors focus on data marketplaces, blockchain, and APIs. Key risks include user adoption, competition, content quality, unproven business models, and regulation.

This role requires a leader adept at navigating the complexities of the market, driving growth and customer satisfaction, and identifying new opportunities for innovation within the AI ecosystem.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Manage a multi-cohort team of Venture Architects, Technologists, Engineers, and Product/Design, leverage domain expertise and ideate on concepts.
  • Take ownership of all functions necessary to launch a new venture, including product development, go-to-market strategies, and operational execution.
  • Lead the team through validating the feasibility, viability, and desirability of a new venture, including hypothesis testing, business model validation, and partner engagement, ultimately leading to the launch of a seeded venture if validated.
  • Own recruiting, prototype development, and go-to-market planning and future fundraising
  • Mentor team members and encourage a culture of collective ownership

  • Deep domain knowledge and a proven ability to lead and build ventures, specifically in the AI sector.
  • Former CEO or founding experience with 0-1 and 1-10 stage companies.
  • Strong critical thinking, implementation, and communication skills.
  • Strong team-building and teamwork capabilities.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to create an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Passion and energy for new ideas.
