Enterprise Sustainability Marketing & Communications Manager 

In this newly created role, you will report into the VP, Corporate & Solutions Group Marketing, working within Avery Dennison’s Global Communications team. You will be responsible for developing an external communications plan to build awareness of our commitment to sustainability and the role we play in helping to solve some of the world’s most complex challenges. You should have a passion for sustainability and a proven track record of working in a marketing and communications role within a global organization. The sustainability landscape is evolving rapidly, building and executing 360 campaigns to establish brand awareness across target industries while staying on the pulse of the latest shifts in legislation will be crucial. Specific requirements include:

Storytelling and brand building:

  • Develop and manage the external enterprise marketing and communications plan to build brand awareness of Avery Dennison globally

  • Drive narrative and storytelling to humanize our business and drive its relevance and notoriety within the industry, positioning us a leader in sustainability

  • Content creation and copywriting across multiple channels (industry events, web, social, email)

  • Day-to-day support to help build the industry profile for our Head of Enterprise Sustainability including speaker opportunities, thought leadership and LinkedIn presence 

  • Collaborate with industry partners and associations to build awareness of the work we are doing around the globe

  • Liaise with the businesses to uncover case studies and news that helps to build the storytelling of AD 

  • Ensure external communications activity aligns with our sustainability goals, narrative and perspective 

  • Draft and submit project briefs to the creative team that are clear, complete and actionable

  • Ensure consistency of brand messaging and communication across all activity

  • Manage content/editorial translations as required

  • Keep up-to-date industry trends, legislation and focus areas that impact Avery Dennison’s brand position

  • Develop measurable objectives that demonstrate the progress made to build brand awareness 

Campaigns

  • Work with the campaign team and an agency partner to create stand out external campaigns that set Avery Dennison apart from it’s industry counterparts, positioning us a leader and catalyst for change 

  • Collaborate with regional and business Marketing & Communications teams to align on campaign plans

  • Activate campaigns in coordination with regional and business Marketing & Communications teams to further extend the reach of global campaigns

  • Work with Global Communications team on the 90th year celebration campaign activating in 2025 

  • Support and prepare and/or write marketing communications and/or presentations to socialize campaign work with wider organization and leadership team(s)

  • Work closely with our internal communications team to ensure our employees are engaged and up to date with our external activations 

PR

  • Understanding of PR and media relations 

  • PR agency management to deliver against set KPIs 

  • Strong understanding of what makes a good earned PR story to advise and direct stakeholders 

  • Responding to media requests for stakeholder interviews and quotes

  • Stakeholder management to drive approvals up to CEO level 

  • Bi-annual evaluation to report back ROI and SOV

Experience: 

  • 5+ years experience working in a global environment 

  • Bachelor degree in english, communications or marketing preferred 

  • Strategic thinker with an ability to align all activities to help drive brand awareness at a global scale 

  • Team player that is willing to take risks and try/test new activity to transform the marketing communications strategy

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills

  • Ability to engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization

  • Proven ability to manage a global budget across a variety of activities

  • Track record of ‘thinking outside the box’

  • Strong initiative to lead on projects proactively

  • Detail-oriented

  • Collaborative attitude with proven experience managing large projects in collaboration with global teams

  • Excellent writing, editing, and presentation abilities

  • Hands on, solutions-oriented attitude with a strong commitment to strive for organizational success

  • A strong sense of integrity and ethics

  • Ability and willingness to travel globally up to 25%
