Xero’s Identity & Auth Team looks after the Identity, Authentication and Authorisation experiences at Xero, ensuring that our customers can access Xero safely and securely. We support both external customer experiences (login and multi-factor authentication pages), and internal engineering customers (authentication and authorisation platforms).

We are looking for a Team Lead - Engineering to join our team. As a Team Lead, you will lead two pods of talented developers. Working together with the Product Manager and Lead Engineers, you will set the direction of the pods, forming and executing on a delivery plan. You will promote successful outcomes for the pods, through supporting your direct reports in becoming awesome Xeros, fostering a culture of teamwork, as well as promoting excellent engineering and delivery practices. 

This is a role with a high potential for impact, working on a platform of large scale and throughput, that our millions of customers use every day. To be successful in this role, we expect you to be able to understand the technical decisions the team is making, to ask the right questions and to challenge the team to arrive at the right approach.

We have 1 fixed term contract and 1 permanent opportunity available

What you’ll do

  • Ensure your team has all of the right tools and support they need to be successful
  • Meet regularly with each member of your team and  encourage them to become the highest performing version of themselves they can be, using a variety of techniques which may include performance feedback, career development, coaching and mentoring
  • Be influential in delivery, fostering a culture of quality and trust
  • Ensure software is built to a high standard
  • Help resolve roadblocks that the team faces
  • Look to continually improve and iterate on the agile process and practices within the team

  • A microservice, written in C# on .NET
  • AWS services
  • Running in a Docker container, orchestrated by Kubernetes
  • Accessed by SPA written in React with TypeScript
  • Deployed with an automated CI/CD pipeline
  • Monitored by industry leading monitoring, alerting, tracing, and logging tools
