Improbable is hiring an

Engineering Manager, Simulation - Enterprise Insights

London, United Kingdom
Full-Time
At Improbable, we want to help businesses navigate the increasingly more complex and intertwined world. Enterprise metaverses break down the organisational and technical siloes that have meant digital twins have not been fully exploitable by the broader business. They empower entire companies to continually optimise and prepare for the future by providing a digital representation that can be visualised, analysed, explored and experimented upon. We use enterprise metaverses to empower businesses to effectively explore future scenarios and respond to change and disruption more effectively by using digital twins and enterprise metaverses.

Enterprise Insights is a newly formed business unit of 30+ people within Improbable, and with it, there are lots of interesting engineering problems to solve.

We’re looking for someone equally motivated to drive team members’ professional development, and take responsibility for the team’s deliverables, ensuring we consistently hit milestones and take modelling to the next level. You’ll lead and shape the future of our modelling team, working closely with our other engineering teams as well as product and business development to align the team with business objectives. Additionally, you’ll have opportunities to engage with external stakeholders, including customers, partners, and academic institutions, to promote collaboration and knowledge exchange.

  • Understand the business and product goals, functional and non-functional requirements requirements, architecture, modelling approaches and technologies that drive the team’s work
  • Plan, track and report work, ensuring your team is delivering effectively against business goals
  • Use your modelling, simulation and software engineering experience to support the team in breaking-down complex problems into pragmatic straightforward solutions
  • Own and refine the modelling, engineering and agile practices of your team
  • Forge and maintain relationships with partners and academic institutions to transfer knowledge and remain at the forefront of modelling and simulation

Why you're made for this :

  • Proven commercial experience, ideally in a startup environment
  • Proven hands-on experience in modelling, simulation, digital twin technology or AI/ML
  • Experience leading a customer-focused technical team, with a strong track record of delivering solutions that delight the customer or end user
  • Ability to pragmatically balance delivery and quality, changing your focus based on project requirements
  • Ideally, you will have a strong network with relevant academic institutions.
  • Great communication skills, with the ability to engage with technical team members and internal stakeholders. Ability to develop successful working relationships and manage stakeholders effectively
  • As an experienced people manager, you will have a clear focus on managing the development and growth of the team
  • A  strong understanding of engineering best practices including agile methodologies

While we think the above experience could be important, we’re keen to hear from people that believe they have valuable experience to bring to the role. If you identify with the team and mission, but not all of our requirements, then please still apply.
