The Role  

 

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for providing technical architecture and engineering execution. The Engineering Manager will be overseeing the Engineering team in Sweden. They will ensure predictable delivery while protecting stability and uptime of the applications.   

The Engineering Manager will report to the CTO, helping ensure all engineering initiatives are aligned globally as well as communicated and approved locally. 

  

Key Responsibilities  

 

  • Ensure the delivery of our products to the marketplace - on time, on budget, and of the highest quality and efficiency 
  • Oversee all Engineering Outputs, Processes and Organisational Structures at SilverRail Sweden.  
  • Provide Technical leadership, support, and coaching to ensure best engineering practices   
  • Be part of the local management team & the global strategic review committee to co-own SilverRail’s strategy & vision  
  • Manage the cost controls for the Engineering department including right-sizing the organisation according to company strategy  
  • Together with Product Management and Engineering, define product roadmaps and release plans.  
  • Managerial responsibilities for several direct reports 

 

Required Competence and Skills 

 

  • Fluency in Swedish and English, both written and spoken  
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or similar 
  • Extensive experience in planning, delivery and execution, with good understanding and practice of methodologies including agile, focused on delivering business value 
  • Excellent prioritization skills and the ability to help the team and the organisation prioritise effectively 
  • Extensive people management experience, including in the following areas: 
  • regular 1:1 practice 
  • setting expectations 
  • onboarding new team members 
  • managing performance 
  • coaching, mentoring and growing other technical leaders 
  • Outstanding communication both informal and formal, written and verbal technical and non-technical communication 
  • Leadership experience with change management and leading technical teams 
  • Strong architecture skills in the following areas: 
  • Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) 
  • Micro Service Architecture (µSA) 
  • architectural patterns 
  • architectural and technical documentation 
  • scalable, reliable and available distributed systems 
  • Extensive experience working hands-on as a Software Engineer with Java programming language; knowledge of scripting languages, C, C++ is a bonus 
  • Experience with CI/CD and cloud technologies (AWS) 
  • Strong cross functional collaboration skills, including strong working practice with product, customer service, sales and any other functions
