The Security team protects OpenAI’s technology, people, and products. We are technical in what we build but are operational in how we do our work, and are committed to supporting all products and research at OpenAI. Our Security team tenets include: prioritizing for impact, enabling researchers, preparing for future transformative technologies, and engaging a robust security culture.  

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and manage a team of machine-learning and software engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to foster professional growth and development.

  • Oversee the design, development, training, and deployment of AI models or security projects, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product management, data science, and software engineering, to deliver AI solutions that meet business objectives.

  • Ensure ethical considerations and high standards of integrity are embedded in all projects and practices.

  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that encourages creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement.

You might thrive in this role if you have:

  • Demonstrated success in productizing AI models or security projects and integrating them into business applications.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with team members, stakeholders, and clients.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely.

  • Passion for mentoring and developing team members, with a focus on fostering a supportive and growth-oriented environment.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science, or a related field; PhD is a plus.

  • 5+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, and experience with AI/ML frameworks and tools.
