The Engineering Manager - Platform will support and impact the developer platform/enablement areas at Field Nation. These areas deliver key improvements around our cloud environments/infrastructure as well as self-enabling the building, testing, deploying and operating software applications across all engineering teams. This position plays an important function by providing mentorship, career development, and technical leadership in collaboration with the Director of Platform Engineering. With a combined focus on people, technology, and operational excellence - this person will lead/empower our Bangladesh enablement and platform teams to deliver quality outcomes. What you’ll do
- Oversee the execution and delivery across multiple teams and initiatives focused on reducing toil, enablement, and improving quality and operational excellence across engineering teams both in Bangladesh and the US.
- Create and manage high-level roadmaps and strategies focused on quarterly objectives and key results to improve the overall developer experience across Engineering teams.
- Monitor the team’s progress, proactively identify and resolve blockersWork closely with stakeholders to identify and define new opportunities to deliver impactful solutions.
- Encourage and support individual technical and soft skill growth. Perform and actively manage team and individual engineer’s performance.
- Proactively identify blockers and help with the solution.
- Collaborate with other engineering leaders and teams to ensure the correct prioritizations and outcomes are aligned and realized.
- Seek opportunities to increase productivity by ensuring team members are focused on the right activities.
- Actively coach/mentor your direct reports.
- Identify new hiring/training needs, growth opportunities/performance plans for your team members.
- Bring fresh ideas on how technology can be used to solve big problems.
What you’ll need
- 3+ years working as part of a team focused on DevOps/Cloud Infrastructure.
- 2+ years working as part of a software engineering team.
- 2+ years directly coaching/mentoring software engineers and/or DevOps/Cloud engineers.
- Experience hiring and developing high performing engineers Ability to deliver/manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Excel at identifying new opportunities and delivering solutions to fulfill those opportunities.
- Must be an excellent communicator, able to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to understand business needs and execute on a business strategy.
- Thorough understanding of cloud architecture, operational, and devops principles, theories and concepts.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, computer science or related technical field.
- Experience working with distributed teams a plus
