Civica is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Manager to join our Health and Care Division
The successful candidate will manage engineering teams developing high quality software products that help deliver critical services for citizens all around the world. They will utilise their strong technical and leadership experience to deliver software efficiently, safely, and to a high standard. They will be responsible for driving a culture of engineering excellence within the team, with a focus on high performance and psychological safety. Utilising Agile practices, they will build self-organising teams delivering high quality software products in line with backlogs prioritised by Product Management.
The successful candidate will have line management responsibility for their teams including performance reviews, regular check-ins, and ensuring team members reach their maximum potential.
Key responsibilities
- Lead a team of highly effective Engineers to deliver high quality software products in line with product roadmaps.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to Engineers around technology and working practices.
- Work closely with the Product Team to help implement product strategy and roadmaps.
- Plan and forecast resource requirements to ensure delivery of product roadmaps.
- Ensure structured plans for the engineering team are in place to ensure that products are built to the highest standards of maintainability, reliability and security. .
- Drive regular assessments and training programmes to ensure team members have the right skills and experience to deliver in line with agreed backlog.
- Drive Agile practices and processes to deliver high release cadence, high quality software.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement across the teams.
- Measure the impact of the engineering team and act upon these to deliver optimisation.
- Line manage Engineers, including goal setting and performance reviews.
- Coach team members on technical, process and behavioural expectations of their roles.
- Drive strong testing culture and embed ownership for testing and quality in the engineering teams.
- Drive adherence to technical standards, coding standards, security standards and development best practice.
Essential competencies:
- Breadth of knowledge across a wide range of development frameworks and languages, such as C#, .Net Framework, .net Core (6-8), Bootstrap, JQuery, Typescript, Knockout.Js, Angular, React,.js Node.js. Express.js.
- Extensive experience building applications for the Cloud.
- Extensive knowledge of Cloud platforms including Azure and AWS.
- Wide range of database technology experience such as MS SQL, Oracle, Mongo Db, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Strong advocate for Agile and modern engineering practices.
- Proactive personality, always looking to learn.
